Hello reader! In a new chapter of Sweets & Smiles, I want to tell you about my visit to a day home called "Sue
ño de Amor" for underprivileged children and adolescents.

This place consists of a large property with a big house and hosts approximately 40 to 60 kids each day. It offers them basic needs such as daily meals and academic support.

The main purpose of this home is to provide a safe haven for these children after school when their parents are not available. It's mandatory for parents to register their children at school for them to enter the home freely. Here, they are provided with meals, snacks, and often take-home packed meals since, in many cases, they don't have enough food at home. The home also provides clothing, school uniforms, and special occasion attire for the children as well as a library and a football field for sports activities.

Additionally, the home offers educational support, psychology, and psychopedagogy to all the children. They teach them and instill the belief that everything in life is possible with effort; that stealing is not an option; and that what others have and they don't is the result of sacrifice and hard work, which they too can achieve. This is crucial for our society, especially considering the 21% increase in juvenile delinquency from last year.

Furthermore, they support parents so they can integrate into society and provide a better future for their children. The work of the five women who run the home is pivotal in the lives of these 50 children and is making a significant impact on the future of many Argentine children under 16 years old.

We had the opportunity to provide them with cleaning and hygiene products to sustain them for three months, as well as new plates and cups for all the new children who have joined the home in recent months. The funds they receive are used to buy food for these children and, eventually, to address larger expenses such as repairing roofs and walls that have holes and dampness. Keeping the place warm and cozy during winter, with its cold and rain, is very challenging for the children throughout the day.

Once again, I want to thank all of you for being part of this project through your subscriptions to Vernaschediewelt. Without you, none of this help would be possible. We will continue to stay in touch with the home to support them with other needs.

Stay tuned to the blog as many more projects are coming, and we will be sharing all the details and realities that currently exist around the world.

Thank you for reading,

Luciana
